Monkey Films is owned and operated by
Clare van Zyl.
Before opening the company in 2000 (with her then partner Aurelia Driver), Clare worked as a freelance commercials producer, as well as in documentary, news and actualities.
In the past ten years Monkey has serviced over 250 commercials for a wide range of international clients, and produced a South African feature film, Boy Called Twist, which screened in the official Tous les Cinemas du Monde at Cannes 2005. Monkey has also produced documentaries, music promos and two award-winning art works.
Monkey’s extensive knowledge of Southern Africa and strong relationships with key crew ensure an innovative approach to both location scouting and the research and development process of each job.
A broad background in a variety of film media contributes to both logistical and creative elements of all Monkey Films’ projects.
